7th Cavalry Battlefield 3 Rules of Engagement

Version 1.0

1. Scope of the Rules of Engagement

This document is to serve as a complete compendium to the rules of the Battlefield 3 servers. This document contains all rules of the server in which the document was written for. If it is not listed in this document it does not exist and is not enforceable. Each rule will have specific definitions of the rule as well as elaborating the specified intent of the rule along with examples to help clarify the rules true intent. By the end of this document, no questions should be remaining as to what the rule meant and how it applies to the player.

2. Battlefield 3 - Public Server Rules
  • No misuse of explosives.
  • No camping the uncapturable bases.
  • No foul language, racism, or insults of any type will be tolerated.
  • No teamkilling.
  • No destruction of friendly equipment.
  • Obey and respect the orders of 7th Cavalry Members when they in the course of maintaining order on the server.
3. Specific definitions of Battlefield 3 - Public Server Rules

The following is a numbered list of all server rules that are in accordance to the list of section 2. Each rule will have a subsection explaining the intentions of the rule and specific cases of the rule.
  • No misuse of explosives.
    • Vehicle jihad (attaching C4 to vehicles or EOD bots and using them for suicide attacks) is not allowed;

    Spirit of the rule - C4 explosives should be used as a demolition tool, ambush or last-ditch AT weapon. Suicidal tactics leading to potential loss of friendly life (self and team members), along with destruction of friendly vehicles and equipment, are not allowed.

  • No camping the uncapturable bases.
    • Intentionally choking an uncapturable spawn area, blocking all areas off from escape;
    • Do not fire into or out of uncaps, unless you're getting fired at. Retaliate and move away;
    • You must be actively trying to move forward, and leave your base;
    • This includes strafing an uncap base with aircraft before they are able to take off. If however, they are firing at you, it is acceptable to destroy the target.

    Spirit of the rule - This rule is about fair competition. We want everyone to have fun, and as such feel that they should get the opportunity to fight back. If you kill the enemies while they are unable to get out of their spawn area at all, you are ruining their fun. Pull back and let them come to you. If you sit in an area where enemies cannot touch you, same applies. Push their positions and participate directly in the fight.

  • No foul language, racism, or insults of any type will be tolerated.
    • No swearing;
    • No racism;
    • This includes abbreviations;
    • This includes in-game names;
    • No insulting other players;
    • No going around the censor filter;
    • No elitist attitude toward others;
    • Treat others as you would your best friend;

    Spirit of the rule - The 7th Cavalry tries to make a fun environment for people of all ages. While our recruiting age may be 16, we do have younger members in our server and want to ensure that our servers are family friendly. If you wouldn't say it in-front of your own mother, you shouldn't be saying it here. If you feel that something is questionable, it is probably wrong.

  • No teamkilling.
    • Commonly called 'TKing' or 'Team Killing' - the purposeful or accidental killing of another player - is not allowed on this server;
    • Do not teamkill for vehicles, this is grounds for instant banning;

    Spirit of the rule - This rule is a pretty run-of-the-mill for team-based FPS ( First Person Shooter ) games. It's universally considered in bad taste and bad form. It makes the game not fun to be shot in the back. The idea is to have fun, not have to worry about a chaotic free for all.

  • No destruction of friendly equipment.
    • This includes purposeful and accidental occurrences;
    • This includes intentionally ramming other air assets friendly, or foe;
    • This includes all actions other than enemy fire: crashing, using explosives and shooting;

    Spirit of the rule - This rule is similar in spirit to the above rule on fratricide. There's already enough concern with the enemy trying to wax that armor or aviation asset.

  • Obey and respect the orders of 7th Cavalry Members when they in the course of maintaining order on the server.
    • Public players are to obey the directives of 7th Cavalry members when those orders are to maintain an orderly and fun play space for all concerned;
    • 7th Cavalry Members are to follow the directives of higher ranking 7th Cavalry members;

    Spirit of the rule - Basically, this covers all of the nonsense that is bound to come up outside the context of this rules of engagement. This does not mean that 7th Cavalry members are to expect habing full authority. If public players are operating in a manner that is unobtrusive to the flow of the game, then this rule has no dominion over them. If they are following the rules, but are being obtrusive in other ways, this rule is for them.
